"A Great School and So Much More"

This is where it's at! You have a top ranked school with many different programs to offer. You have a nice surrounding area for students and those that want to live in a hot spot of town. You have restaurants, shops, and the convenience of getting to just about anything you need within a couple of minutes. This is a great area of town!

Sure it's true that the closer you move to actual campus the better, but all in all this is a great spot to live. If you happen to be a student here then you can't go wrong with the housing options. Many even outside of the programs here pick this for the fact that it's safe, easy to get around, and close to everything.

Not only do you have a lot going on in and around campus, but you are close to a lot of hot spots in the downtown area. You can easily get to the Detroit Institute of Arts and plenty of wonderful restaurants nearby. It's a great campus for college students and a very reasonably priced area to live for those that aren't even in school.

For those that want a part of town that is easily accessible with the convenience of amenities withing walking distance, this is it. You will find a good cost of living, friendly neighborhood, and just about everything you need within a stone's throw. This is a great spot and continues to draw people in each year!

"A top 70 school in top neighborhood"

Wayne State is not only a top three school in Michigan and a top 70 research university in the United States – it is also situated in one of the most pleasant neighborhoods in the Detroit metropolitan area. If you venture too far off of campus, you might find yourself in an undesirable area – but the many blocks on the school’s property, and the buildings and streets immediately surrounding are among the most festive, enjoyable and safest in the city.

The Wayne State area is a short walk from the Detroit Institute of Arts, Spartan stadium where the football team plays, and a number of famous restaurants in the downtown area. You can be sure to find specialty book and record stores just off of campus, and a number of fast food locations on campus itself. The buildings include some of the oldest and newest in the city, including the historic Old Main on the outskirts of the campus.

Filled with students and teaching professionals, the campus is a popular place for the 20s crowd, and parties, celebrations and social events can be found in the area most weekends during the spring and fall semesters. The cultural makeup is among the most diverse in the state, and some of the smartest thinkers in Michigan find their way through the Wayne State neighborhood.

"The closer to the campus, the better"

I took a couple of classes there in my college years. I and a neighbor who also went there used to go together. The surrounding neighborhood is a different story, but the campus was cool. It had all the amenities you would expect for the city of Detroit's major college campus. As usual is the story in places like this, parking is a drag unless you have a pass. Trying to park on the street is a nightmare.

I love college campuses and the atmosphere. There is nothing like seeing young, fresh faces shuffling off to class or mingling in the common areas. The whole place has a certain kind of energy that I like. Walking through the campus areas outside is not bad either, even in the winter months.

Public transportation in the area is much better than average. The buses ran often, and there is even an Amtrak station nearby. The campus is bordered by the Lodge and I-94, and Woodward Avenue is right there as far as main streets and getting around fast. Henry Ford hospital is also only a few blocks away. The surrounding living areas, and neighborhood are another story, but campus life is nice.
