I'm a substitute teacher looking for a place to rent with my unemployed partner. Best neighborhood?

We'd prefer public transportation to schools for us to teach, but also with a relatively cheap place to rent for up to 800 a month.

It's hard to find a place for $800.00 per month or less. I would suggest looking in Shoreline or outside the city limits. North seattle probably is best for lower crime, but not perfect. South seattle, and outskirts have less expensive rents. In Seattle limits, west of Northgate area/mall might have lower rents or Lake City are. Both are close to bus lines and local schools.
