"Chandler Park – Never Short of Fun"

If you had to pick one affordable neighborhood to raise a family in Detroit, it would definitely be Chandler Park. Of course, the main attraction here is the Chandler Park Water Park, where you can escape the heat of summer for a full day of fun whenever you want. There is also an 18-hole golf course, playgrounds and walking trails to enjoy as well. Who needs to pay for a gym membership when you can walk here and breath in the fresh air? The park even offers swimming lessons and it is a great place to have a birthday party.

Commuting to work is easy since I-94 is pretty much in your backyard, and the bus does run down a few roads. In fact, about 20 percent of residents do take the bus and nearly 25 percent carpool, which shows the neighborly spirit there is to be appreciated here.

Compared to other Detroit neighborhoods, Chandler Park is nicely manicured. You can tell residents likely work hard for their money and go out of their way to take care of their property. It is centrally located where you can find plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars nearby too.

"Nice little area over by the water park"

Everyone in the Detroit area knows about the Chandler Park water park. Everyone I know has been there, including myself, and has had a lot of fun there. I do believe it's the only water park within the city limits. When you are going to the park all the time, you also drive along the main streets surrounding the neighborhoods for gas and food. So you can see a nice bit of the neighborhood even if you don't know anyone that lives there.

There were a few vacant lots, but flowers or grass had been planted there, and it had been maintained. The homes themselves looked pretty nice. There were a lot of one-story and two story homes that you could see from the main streets like Harper and Chalmers. Overall you never had that feeling that someone was going jump out of the bushes and rob you if you weren't paying attention. The streets were relatively clean and this was a pretty cool neighborhood on the east side.

This neighborhood didn't just have the water park. There is even a golf course next to the water park, and I heard it's nice although I have never been there. There is public transportation along Warren Avenue and Chalmers for the locals who need the buses for travel. There was also ample retail outlets scattered about Harper and Warren for minor local shopping. I haven't seen all of the homes here, but I would consider investigating this neighborhood if I wanted to live on the east side.

"A Great Place to Live"

Not only is this location accessible with access to a major expressway closeby, but it has so many wonderful features. You feel safe here and it's an excellent community for familes. Some of the main attractions of this area of town also happen to be what draw people in to live here.

The two main attractions of this neighborhood are the water park and the library. This is the only water park in town and is therefore a hot spot in the warm summer months. The library is part of this community and that's a huge benefit for families with children, particularly when other options are limited.

There are also some great parks nearby and therefore many families are finding this an excellent choice. It is affordable as the homes are a bit older, but you can get a great value for your investment. For the families that want amenities for thier children and who are interested in living within the city of Detroit, this is by far the best choice out there.

"Hope For the Future"

This is one of those neighborhoods within Detroit where you see some potential. Though not a lot of houses are selling, the average cost is going up. Many are hopeful that perhaps the worst has already come for this area of town that is in need of a bit of revitalization.

There is hope that this once thriving community will get back to that status with the right help and tools. It has great amenities nearby such as a shopping area and access to the main expressway running through it. It has nearby parks and was once a popular place for people to live who worked at the Detroit Diesel headquarters.

It is hopeful that the best is yet to come as many look to an area such as this with the desire for a better future. You can however get in on a great investment here and that makes it a good choice for those that can invest and perhaps work on a house that is in need of it.
