"Beautiful safe enclave, way too isolated, no subway or metro north"

My sister and her husband live on a waterfront property in Country Club (CC) and it is beautiful. There is no commercial area in CC. There are also no subways or Metro North in CC SO GET READY TO DRIVE EVERYWHERE! Since my sister moved there four years ago, she had to purchase two cars just so she and her husband can go to work, go shopping, go to the doctor, go to the park(pelham bay park is great), etc. She spends way too much time in her car for my city lifestyle taste. I told her she basically lives in the suburbs so she might as well move to Westchester so to not pay the city taxes. However she loves her beautiful home and area. Schools are good. She does add that the neighborhood is friendly but very close-knit and don't act as kind to outsiders (read between the lines). I told my sister that it's probably because CC residents don't want people outside of the neighborhood taking up parking spots!
Pros
  • Safe
  • Waterfront
  • Pelham bay park
Cons
  • NO COMMERCIAL AREA
  • NO SUBWAY/MUST DRIVE EVERYWHERE
  • HEY YOU! YOU FROM AROUND HERE?!?

"If you want to live in countryside and still be in the city"

If you want to live in countryside and still be in the city, this is the best option for you. Most of the houses (beautiful houses) here are very expensive compared to the rest of the Bronx but very affordable compared to the overpriced Brooklyn homes (which are less attractive).. The streets are safe and quiet. You might need a car to live here but there is also bus and the 6 train station a few minutes away. Its closeness to the park and the beach is its advantage

  • too quiet

"Great Bronx Neighborhood"

The Bronx is full of residential, suburban-seeming neighborhoods like this one, the only catch being perhaps that this neighborhood plays host to waterfront property. There are a few other things that make this a standout neighborhood, though – many think of Country Club as upscale, prestigious, and incredibly well maintained (making its name a very fitting one). There are many homes on these tree lined streets that also feature a view of the bay, and the salt water smell drifts in on breezes to the neighborhood. Don’t be fooled by the name, though – this is not some sparkling new neighborhood just built in the middle of nowhere. It’s still a New York City neighborhood, which automatically affords it a certain amount of old fashioned charm – the houses are not identical or anything like that.
