"Mosholu Village Business Area"

This little "weird" block that someone reviewed just because it breaks off into other avenues, is awake and getting better. With a new pizza place where the interior decor is modern and cute, everything else as business storefronts become available will just keep going up.
There is now a new hardware store where the owner is friendly and informative.
There is an all male barber shop that looks pretty hip and seems like it's busy during certain parts of the day.
There is two Chinese food take-out places.
There is a new under management Latin hot food place.
There is a Mexican/grocery store
There is Korean grocery store
and then there is the liquor store, discount store, tax service place, large laundry, community board 7 office, church services, real estate service, two hair salons and nail salon. A few more things here and there.
Not bad for the two blocks.
Several new trees have been placed on the block.
I can see this as an up and coming Mosholu Village Business area since it literally faces Mosholu Parkland with a sitting area at the beginning of the block.
Some of the small brick apartment buildings over these stores can be purchased and made into business offices.
A great opportunity for new business to come in and offer something different that compliments the residents and it's neighbors.
A good area to come get something to eat after visiting The New York Botanical Gardens and the D train is up the block for when you are done sight-seeing the area.
Pros
  • New trees on the block
  • several eating options
  • area is not that bad anymore with residents being more active
  • Plenty of stores
  • Lots of green space available by Mosholu Parkway

"A lot of little conveniences and scenic too.."

Lived here for several years, and the biggest draws have always been the parks, access to public transportation, and relatively affordable rents/co-ops. Doctors offices available up to the Grand Concourse and whatever you can't find on the street is available right across the Parkway in Norwood. Easy and scenic walk to the Botanical Gardens.
Pros
  • Lots of green space available by Mosholu Parkway
  • Plenty of stores
Cons
  • Can be a little rough around the edges
  • Closer to the train yard, it is a little desolate

"Weird Looking Street - Splits Into High and Low Level"

E. 204th Street is the strangest street, at least to me. When you go up E. 204th Street and you arrive Valentine Avenue, the road splits into a high and low level road. The high level goes to all local stops. The low level acts as a highway.

If you are new to the area, you might get confused by it.
Pros
  • Plenty of stores
  • Mixed bag
Cons
  • Street was designed in a weird way

"Some Stores on One Block"

If you go to E 204th St between Valentine Ave and E. Mosholu Pkwy S, you will see a bunch of stores on each side of the road. But once you get past that point, the remaining area splits off around a highway, with a worn down building to the right and construction along the side of the building. At this corner, E 204th St apparent stops until it meets again after Bainbridge Ave.
Pros
  • Plenty of stores
Cons
  • Little too dirty in spots
  • Bad area to be in
  • Construction makes it look bad

"Quaint place to live"

Okay so I lived around the corner but i know the area really well. The best possible thing about living on 204th is the accesibility to all things necessary. On 204 there is a huge laundramat , supermarket and you are right up the block from a gorgeous park and right down the block from all the public transportation you can need. It is a quiet street and everyone is friendly. The only downside is the limited parking..

"East 204th Street"

Though there is not much in the way of food on this street, there are a lot on the main streets in this area. In terms of housing, this may not be the greatest place to live but it is very easily accessible as there are plenty of trains to take you to the midtown area.
