This may sound silly but my vote is for Casa Bonita. Yes the food is not great but almost anyone I know who grew up in Denver had at least one birthday party there. It's just one of those rights of passage. If you are trying to keep the kids occupied, then definitely a Monkey Biz or something like that. My kids have enjoyed Bowling Birthdays and most Bowling alleys have great packages. At least do Casa Bonita for the family dinner. Keep the tradition alive!

The kids in my family love Monkey Bizness. It has a huge private play area with everything a kid could climb, bounce in, jump onto or off of. Art Garage and Color Me Mine both have art project parties for kids who want to get messy. My nephew went to a birthday party at JungleQuest in Centennial that was the the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I just saw the beginning, but the boys were all being prepped for some kind of "adventure", and they were so excited they could hardly stand it. And for girls, Sweet & Sassy in Aurora has "makeover" parties that little girls love.

For younger kids you may want to try having a dinosaur party at the Morrison Natural History Museum. They let the kids paint a dinosaur track to take home, show them real fossils, live reptiles, and they let the kids pour a cast of a T-Rex tooth for the birthday boy or girl. Although they don't have a place for cake and stuff, there is an area outside that anyone is welcome to use for that purpose. It's extremely reasonably priced as well, something like $60 for 10 children. Their website is www.mnhm.org.

Another option is The Denver Puppet Theater. These parties are geared for children 5 and up. They can watch a live performance and make their own puppet. They have different packages available, but the more expensive one includes a private showing and the puppet play includes making reference to your child during the show. Prices start around $120 for 15 people. Their website is www.denverpuppettheater.com.

There are also numerous ceramic painting places around town, such as Color Me Mine. The parties are usually pretty reasonably priced and everyone gets to keep their 'masterpiece.'
