I have never driven through or visited the Walnut Hills neighborhood, it is part of Centennial correct? The schools get good ratings too from what I can see...

In general, prices tend to get higher as you move closer to the center of town, and drop as you go further out. There are, of course, plenty of variations within that, accounting for different neighborhoods, etc. But in terms of the big picture, 300K will buy you a very very small house that needs a lot of work in Washington Park or Bonnie Brae, and it will buy you a relatively new, relatively large two story home with a full basement in Parker. And lots of variety in between. So it all depends on what's important to you. And yes, as Wade said, best to sit down with a real estate professional and look at all of the options.

Wow, Heather that is a very open to interpretation question. I think it all depends on your View of "Value", Weather that is size, age, schools or condition, there are many different communities that could fit your needs. I suggest that you sit down and talk to someone in the Real Estate community to help you narrow the choices.
