There are many great rescue organizations in Cincinnati to adopt a dog from. I don't recommend you ever buy a dog (adopt, don't shop), but that is another discussion. The Hamilton County SPCA has a location on Colerain Avenue where you can adopt a dog or cat and save it from being euthanized. There are also a number of local rescue groups who rescue dogs from the streets or kill shelters that hold frequent adoption events throughout the city. The groups can often be found at local pet supply stores (such as PetsMart or Petco) on weekends. Some of the rescue groups are Recycled Doggies, Adore-a-Bulls, Save the Animals Foundation, Dream House Rescue, and Luvfurmutts Animal Rescue to name just a few. You can find many wonderful dogs of all ages available for adoption from these groups. Most dogs adopted from rescue groups have been fostered in homes for a bit, so that the foster parent can tell you a little about their personalities.
