"Bloomington is a fantastic place to live"

I moved to Bloomington in 1984 on a "temporary basis and have not left yet. Having grown up in St Paul I just never thought I would stay. I have raised my three children in Bloomington and not only do I still live there I also own some investment properties in Bloomington as well.
Bloomingtons tax base is very reasonable compared to other cities and the services you receive including the schools, public transportation, snow plowing, police, fire and the parks are phenomenal. A couple of years ago they started a farmers market located in the parking lot of the new City Hall which is conveniently located just west of the 35W and 98th Street intersection. They feature a lot of local merchants and has become very popular in a very short period.
Living in Bloomington gives you easy access to either downtown as well as the famous Mall of America, Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport so commuting to work or play is very easy.
Pros
  • Local Farmers Market
  • Excellent Emergency Services, Police and Fire
  • Very good School System
  • close to the airport
  • excellant public transportation
  • free parking everywhere
Cons
  • heavy traffic on 494 most days and times
