Are there many employment opportunities in Stanford?

To be honest, no. There are not a lot of local businesses here to begin with, and what few there are don't appear to be hiring scores of people at this time. Just for some depth, I checked out the present job listings in Stanford (centered in Stanfordville), and I came up with three. Not a typo. There were just three classifieds for the whole town.

Most Stanford residents work elsewhere.
