"Nice area if you're in a Gang"

Just South of the 610 Loop, North of Highway 90, West of Highway 288, and East of South Post Oak Road is where you will find the area of South Main, also known as the “South Side”. Main streets located here are South Main, Bellfort, Kirby, and Fanin. Commuters use personal vehicles to drive to work and school, but some prefer the Metro Bus.

This area is within a decent driving distance of the Houston Medical Center and Reliant Arena, but you won’t find any visitors occupying area motels. South Main used to be an established neighborhood with older homes, where you might visit your grandparents. Today, this area is filled with crime, gang activity, and pedestrians roaming the streets. If you have a family, I would steer clear of this area. If you live alone, use extreme caution. If you are looking for the most affordable home or apartment, you may find it here, but be sure they allow pit bulls, because you will likely need one.

"South Main, Houston"

South Main is one of the neighborhoods in southwest Houston. This is one of the dated portions of the city. It has access to some of the major roadways in the city. This neighborhood is nestled in the area near the 610 Loop inside Beltway 8. You will find a number of busy streets in this part of Houston. Main Street and Old Spanish Trail are two of these locations. South Main is has many nearby locations, which attracts visitors to the area. Reliant Park is one of the attractions. Here a variety of events are held in the city.

There are also a few neighborhoods in this area as well. These include Willowbend, Willow Meadows, and Westwood. Braeswood Place is another community close to the South Main area. Public transportation here provides residents with access to many locations in Houston. The Texas Women’s Hospital is situated in this area. This is definitely one of the busy portions of the city in terms of traffic. Its appearance displays a more rugged area, than many of the urban Houston destinations. One of the best things about South Main is its proximity to other locations in the city. This is not one of Houston’s premier offerings.

"Terrible Place to Live"

Main Street south of 610 is a terrible place to live. It is very unsafe and prone to crime and gang activity. Anyone who has lived in Houston can agree that this area of town is not a desireable place to visit, EVER. Those with young children should avoid this area because it is so unsafe. If you must be here at night, be sure to have a friend with you and take all precautions to be safe.
