Is Red Hook better for singles or for families?

I would say families. In Red Hook, you've got a relatively low population (about 11,000 people in town, which isn't as low as some other nearby towns, but it's not exactly New York City), but you do have some young people around here. It's not the absolute dead worst place in Dutchess County for singles, but it's a smallish town, so it is what it is. There aren't a ton of places in town to meet people in that kind of setting, but there are a couple bars and such.

I'd say it's better for raising families because it's on the quiet and peaceful side, and there are reasons the reviewers on this site think pretty highly of Red Hook. Further, it's safe, the schools are good, and you're close enough to more things to do (Kingston). There are a bunch of families living here too.
