I have to agree with Anjanette. This is a really nice, peaceful, quiet town and it's dominated by families. It's always seemed to me to be a pleasant place to raise kids, not to mention the schools are good and it's a friendly community. Red Hook is very safe, as crime is practically unheard of up here. Finally, I'd say it's not too big or too small, so you won't lack for things to do with the family but you'll also have a place to raise your family in some peace.

I would say most definitely. It has a real down home American charm and wholeseomeness. It is quite safe, the schools are excellent, it has a good parks and rec program, a movie theatre, a bowling alley, mini-golf and some family-friendly eateries.
