What's the most touristy area of Philadelphia?

I want to explore Philadelphia, but don't want to deal with huge crowds of tourists. Any suggestions?

The most "touristy" area of Philadelphia is definitely right around Independence Hall. On any given day, don't expect to be able to get around this area without being inundated with tourists. It's best to explore this area during the winter months, or just prepare yourself for the crowds during warmer months.

The Art Museum also sees a fair amount of traffic year round. Additionally, the corner in Passyunk Square where Pat's and Geno's have set up shop is also constantly crowded. South Street can also be a bit of a nightmare at times, as can Rittenhouse Square.
