Greenwich Village, New York City - good public transportation options?

Most of the transportation is on the borders of Greenwich but that's not a terrible thing because Greenwich is quite small. The Green, Orange, L, and Yellow lines run out of Union Square, the Green runs out of 8th street, the yellow runs out of 8th street on the other side of Washington Square park and the Red runs at 7th and Bleecker. Lots of options -- it just depends on what side of the neighborhood you are located.
