"Friendly with lots of shopping"

This neighborhood is aptly named, and is like a miniature Columbia Heights in terms of the shopping opportunities. Several possibilities for a fun time here- lots of great restaurants (from locally owned to Chipotle chains), and a movie theater if you're looking for a fun and easy Friday night date. A perfect place for a young couple looking to start a family, as it is extremely child friendly, but also has no limit of fun places to go when the babysitter is staying with your kids.

"Need to go to Neiman Marcus?"

Friendship Heights is a neighborhood of approximately 2,44 residents located in the northwest section of the city along the Maryland border. The neighborhood's boundaries are formed by Western Avenue, 41st Street N.W., Chesapeake Street N.W. and River Road N.W. The average price for a home that sold in 2010 was an incredible $7,504,392, with over 75% of the homes being owner occupied. The homes a mixture of attached and detached single family homes as well as apartments and condominiums. Looking at the home for sale currently you will see condominiums with prices over $600,000 and detached single family homes selling for over $2,00,000.

Residents will find a multitude of shopping and dining opportunities within the neighborhood, especially along Wisconsin Avenue N.W.. Georgetown Day is located here for those seeking private school options. Recreational facilities include the Chevy Chase Recreation Center as well as numerous private facilities. Public transportation is excellent with numerous Metro Bus stops as well as the Friendship Heights Metro station. Residents have a number of places to worship with in the neighborhood.

Recent crime statistis indicate that the neighborhood is pretty safe with most crime being property type of crimes along Wisconsin Avenue. As always check recent crime statistics to make an informed decision before moving into any neighborhood. I really like this neighborhood because everything is there, now if I could just afford it.

"Chevy Chase, cheap"

Friendship Heights could be called Chevy Chase on the cheap. Close to shopping, restaurants and services, there is something for everyone. Many office buildings and apartments are mixed in with nice houses, and most of them sell or rent for a reasonable price. If you both live and work in the neighborhood, you could walk or bike to work without much problem. You might say Friendship Heights is the height of DC living, while preserving a sense of friendship. It also has a fairly strong sense of community, and the crime rate is very low.
Most of the people who live in Friendship Heights are middle class, in contrast to their neighbors in Chevy Chase. There is a major Metro station there, for those who live either closer to downtown DC or out in Montgomery County, MD. Naturally, many residents of surrounding communities come here for a relaxing evening in one of the restaurants, or to buy groceries.
Because there is a lot of traffic, you won’t see children playing after school. Instead, they will have to go somewhere else. On the other hand, the parents can and do pay for special activities like after school sports, so this isn’t much of a problem. Anyway, you will see families out walking the sidewalks and it is safe to do that.

"A Great Place to Live and Work"

Friendship Heights is a well-developed, upper middle class neighborhood spanning the DC and Maryland borders. It is, in many ways, similar to its more well know neighbor, Chevy Chase, though not quite as expensive to live in.
One of the things that many residents appreciate about living in Friendship Heights is easy access to nearby restaurants and shopping. Not only are there plenty of large scale departments stores in various price ranges; there is also a large movie theatre and several moderately priced restaurants. This part of town often attracts ladies out for a Girl’s Night out, as it has several lovely little day spas and privately owned boutiques.
There are even opportunities for those who are interested to work near their homes. Several companies have their corporate headquarters in Friendship Heights, and there are a number of store fronts suitable for professional offices. However, if you prefer to commute to work, the Friendship Heights Metro Station can easily get you where you want to go.
Property values in Friendship have attracted several developers in recent years, and new construction seems to be going up all the time. Therefore, anyone looking for a new condominium or upscale apartment should have no problem finding one.
