What is the best suburb for young families?

We are moving from Atlanta, GA to the Denver area. We're looking for a family-friendly neighborhood in the Denver suburbs with large lots and great views, within a great school district. Would prefer to live in the southwest suburbs, but within commuting distance to downtown Denver.

I would recommend Arvada or Highland Ranch. Both have low crime rates, great schools, are close to the mountains and an easy commute to downtown.

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your question. I posted my reply yesterday but don't see it on the website so I'll resubmit today. I grew up in Colorado and lived in many wonderful neighborhoods in the Denver Metro area. My favorite family oriented neighborhoods south of Denver include Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Castle Pines, Parker, Littleton and Lone Tree. Highlands Ranch is known for its family-friendly style. With multiple recreation centers throughout the community Highlands Ranch is a family favorite. Castle Rock is also a favorite because it evokes a small town atmosphere along with modern conveniences. Parker feels a bit more like the west to me. I like Parker because of the open areas and horses and small town feel. But Parker is growing. Lone Tree is also great because of the large family-oriented recreation center, shopping and easy access to C-470. And the new Cabela's opens today in Lone Tree. Welcome to Colorado!

Hi Jenny,
I'm a Colorado native and I've lived and worked in all parts of metro Denver. There are many wonderful family oriented neighborhoods in the metro area. In Douglas County we have Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, and Castle Pines-these are all wonderful family-friendly neighborhoods. The schools in Douglas County are well known for high achievement and quality education. I work in all areas of the metro area but tend to focus much of my business in Douglas County. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I am happy to help. My cell number is 303-638-7021.

There are several suburbs southwest of Denver that are within commuting distance, and are very family friendly. Some of the areas also have Light Rail that travels into Denver as well.
