Are there any free or very affordable art galleries / museums / exhibits in Denver?

We love to take trips to Denver for the history and art, but money can be a bit tight. Are there any great places to explore that are not too expensive?

Not only the art museum offers free days. The SCFD (Scientific & Cultural Facilities District) funds free days at The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, The Denver Zoo, The Denver Botanic Gardens, and $10 performances at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts! Visit http://www.scfd.org/?page=home&sub=4 for more information and a list of free days. Denver rocks for offering it's residents free and cheap cultural events, concerts, and more.

One of the Museums that many people overlook is the Colorado History Museum It is located at 1200 Broadway, in Denver. It is something to see. I believe Kids under 6 are free. I took my 5 year old there. We walked around and looked at the photos of Downtown Many years ago, also they have a computer called the "time Machine" that will tell you stories about the history of certain locations in Denver and Colorado.

The Denver Art Museum offers a free day the first Saturday of every month. It is definitely worth checking out - plan to spend most of the day there!
