"Very Commercial and some Places Are Dirty"
The one thing you may like about this area is that it is very commercialized. There are blocks upon blocks of commercial establishments. You can take your pick of what you like to do since there are many different stores, delis, etc., to look at and go into.
The downside to this place is that some sections of this street are dirty, while construction is going on in other parts of the street.

"Great place for families"
West 235th is located in a neighborhood called Riverdale in the Bronx.
West 235th provides services and entertainment to the surrounding south Riverdale neighborhood. It houses the following: grocery store, coffee shops, bakeries, cleaners, pharmacies, dry cleaners, shoe repair store, fast food, restaurants, produce stores, real estate offices, dentists, law offices, Catholic Church, art\picture frame shop, deli\convenience store, gift shop, banks, and private residences.
Compared to 110th street and 5th ave, this neighborhood is much more quiet and much closer to everything that is needed for day to day items. I can get all of my errands completed on 235th near Johnson Ave.
I feel extremely safe on this street---the employees at the stores have been there for years and there seems to be little, if any, turnover.
