"Pennypack, miles of green."

Pennypack Park is a great park that has a lot to offer. Whether you a biker (they have cemented trails, but they also have some areas that you can explore on your own), a runner (the same applies), a fisherman (great creeks), a lover of horses (many people ride horses through the park), a picnicer (they have canopies and dining halls along with many areas of grass to spread out a blanket if needed), a lover of animals (you'll see tons of ducks, geese, deer, foxes, chipmunks, etc), or just someone who likes to read outdoors (there are benches along the water side), there is something that this park can offer you. I've been fishing here with my dad since I was a little girl and this park holds many dear memories for me. We once saw a giant snapping turtle here and it ate my bait and got a hook stuck in its mouth. What a thing for a little girl to remember! The only real downside to this park is what with its great stretch, comes a little too much for people to handle. Occasionally there will be some report of crime, but I think that could be anywhere. If you keep a great head on your shoulders, you'll be fine and enjoying a great park while you're at it.
Pros
  • Great space
  • Great community
  • Nice homes
  • Pennypack Park
Cons
  • Need car
  • Some crime

"Burholme Park, hear those birds sing"

A lot of people want to know what surrounds their house when they are about to buy and so upon reading this, know that you have picked (or maybe are about to pick) the perfect place if you have access to this park. It has baseball fields, soccer field and a giant hill that everyone loves to sled on when the snow comes down. The trees around are beautiful especially in the fall when they change color. Every year for the past twelve years, my family has gone down to the this park to take a family picture against the beautiful backdrop of such nice scenery. It's a great place to picnics. It has those large canopy tables and dining areas if you want to throw a party and I've had many a picnic and frisbee throwing game there. A lot of people bring their dogs which is nice because you get to meet new people and have something in common. Even if you are dog-less, most people you find there are pretty friendly and will talk with you if you approach them. As a park, it's definitely a great place for fitness with a lot of area to cover if you have the energy. There are sometimes even groups of joggers keeping each other company as they go for a morning run together.
Pros
  • Park events
  • Great for everyone
  • Nature!

"Burholme Area, where you have great parks"

Burholme is nice. I know that nice describes nothing, but in this case it does. It's a pleasant place to live or even just visit. Burholme Park is practically RIGHT THERE and that offers a lot. It has a little playground for kids and the park itself has events every so often for families. In the winter time when it snows, the park has this ginormous hill that everyone goes sledding on. It's true that there really aren't any stores to shop around here or food places unless you go further up Cottman, but the park is the main attraction around as well as the homes. The traffic can be horrific at times on rising sun or on Cottman, but that shouldn't scare you away. Also a lot of people with dogs live around here (must be the park bringing them all in one place).
Pros
  • Nice people
  • Country feel
  • Lots of parks
  • Wildlife
Cons
  • Bad traffic

"Where cows and people get along great!"

Where to start? Lancaster is one of the cleanest places you'll probably ever be. The saying "The grass is greener on the other side of the fence" completely applies except that it's true. Living here for a while, the thing I got appreciate the most was the greenery and the farms all around. Also because of all those farms, it's really not hard to get actual fresh produce. Another thing that is great is all the handmade things made by hipsters, locals and the Amish. In the downtown area is a piano that is attached to the ground and someone regularly comes and tunes. It's really old and many people have signed it and dated that piano to years back. It's a little distracting if you try to sit down and play it because of dry paint on the keys and all over. Still, it's an experience if you can find it. The streets downtown are little hard to walk with the cobblestone rock here and there, but anywhere else is fine. Also, the streets that aren't downtown are very windy and great to drive. There are people who take bicycles to work instead of driving and with the hills, it's great exercise. With this great opportunity though, you still have to exercise good judgment and caution. A friend of mine wasn't paying too much attention and was run over by a tractor. He's okay, just his arm is a little damage done permanently. Otherwise, the people are very friendly and there are a lot of kids around. The local parks offer lots of events and concerts along with fireworks occasionally.
Pros
  • Very clean
  • Very friendly people
Cons
  • the strong smell of cow manure or fertilizer occasionally
  • rogue tractors.

"A place located near everything!"

This area has a lot to offer since it's right there against the Boulevard. There are stores all up and down the the corner streets like the Boulevard and Grant. There are five gyms: Bally's, Gold's gym, Retro Fitness, Planet Fitness and LA Fitness. All are pretty much near each other and have different price ranges and luxuries so there's something for everyone. The places to eat are abundant as well. There are many fast food places for on the go like Chik-fil-a, but there's also a lot of sit down restaurants. On Welsh and the Boulevard is this Italian place that's charming with good food and the pricing isn't bad either. There's a good Mexican food place as well on the same plaza that has great decor and yummy food. In the big plaza though, that's Grant and the Boulevard, there's a whole host of stores that are really helpful if you need to get things done around the house. There's a Walmart, Lowe's, HHGreg, and even a craft store to fulfill all your wants. There's a pet store on the same plaza if you want a furry friend to share your new home with. The restaurants on whatever plaza though are nice and there are some that aren't chain restaurants which is good for experiencing new things. There's an amazing Indian food restaurant behind the Nifty Fifty's eatery. It offers takeout or eat it. The decor isn't much, but the food is the best and the prices not bad.
Pros
  • tons of stores around
  • near Pennypack Park and Fox Chase
  • public transit
Cons
  • petty crime
  • noise
  • air traffic
