Is Tri-Taylor in Chicago a safe neighborhood?

I think it has "less" crime than neighborhoods like Wicker Park, Logan Square, and West Town. But there is not enough yuppie-types walking around to dilute the ghetto looking folks like in those neighborhoods (when I say ghetto, I don't mean color of skin... I mean llifestyle). Therefore, there has been a "perception" that there "might" be a lot crime here. This is mostly perceived when one walks down Western Avenue or some pockets just west of Western.

It's actually come a long way as of late. It's right near Greektown and Little Italy, which have both become safer in the last ten to fifteen years, and there is a lot of development in the area, so it's certainly a safer neighborhood than it used to be, and I'd feel comfortable there.
