South Eureka Ave, Greater Hilltop

South Eureka Avenue on Columbus' west side is a dump. From West Broad Street all the way down to Mound Street (about a mile and a half) you will see torn up house after torn up house. There are are about three or four that have burnt to the ground. The neighborhood is dangerous and litered with drugs and crime.

A friend of mine lives on South Eureka Avenue right around Sullivant Avenue, and he has had his house broken into seven times in the last five years. Don't even get me started on how many times his car windows have been smashed and his car broken into (he's given up on having a car radio).

Don't get me wrong, the street has many outlets to shopping, eating and many options for entertainment. There is a bar near Eureka and Sullivant, called Eddie's. They play live music and have $1 drinks during happy hour, but you better come prepared to fight becasue it seems like that's all they do there. That goes for gun fights too.

Overall, this is a really low income area that is flooded with crime. If you can live in these types of conditions, go for it, but I wouldn't raise a family on this street.
