"Cute spanish bungalows in up and coming area"

Leimert park is changing everyday. The main plaza has a metro going in, the theater is getting remodeled, the mall is getting remodeled, the hospital is going through an expansion and getting remodeled. The area already is cute with palm, trees but so much change is coming.

"Great neighbors, nice architecture, very diverse, professionals and families"

Affordable traditional-type and Spanish homes ranging from $300K to 600K that would be $300,000 more on the Westside. Developed in the 1920s (south of King), through the 1940s (north of King), some homes have amazing architecture. Well-tended lawns. Primarily African-Americans , small percentage of Hispanics and Asians but I notice a few White neighbors while we are taking our walks. I live north of King, which is very walkable. South of King tends to have the tastier architecture but the lots are smaller.Some duplexes and apartments closer to the village section south of King. Good for families and singles. Area hosts African American professionals who want the comfort of living and networking amongst other A-A professionals; close to upscale View Park, Baldwin Hills, Windsor Hills - but Leimert is flat, unlike those hilly areas. Multiple neighborhood associations that communicate well with each other. Nearby Metro rail runs from downtown to Culver CIty (soon Santa Monica) along Exposition. Crime maps show relatively "no to low" crime in the neighborhood itself, but nearby areas south of Vernon and East of Arlington tend to keep LAPD busy. Daily and nightly Helicopter traffic over the Leimert Park neighborhoods can be an annoyance - depends on how sensitive you are to it.. Only single homes north of King. Worth it for the $$ value, neighbors, and proximity to downtown events and USC, the Science Center and the African-American Museum. Walking distance to shopping malls and restaurants, including the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills mall, the Debbie Allen Dance Studio, and upscale restaurant Post-and-Beam is not to be missed. The mall is the location for the annual Pan-African Film Festival. Some streets in the Northwest sector of Leimert have great views of the Hollywood sign on clear days.

"Affordable Urban Living"

One of the most affordable neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area. Housing prices start around $250,000 which places Leimert Park as one of the better buys when looking for place to live in LA. The houses throughout the area have the "mecca" type of aritecture with many trees and greenery surrounding the area.
This neighborhood has a very urban, jazzy feel to it. It is home to many hip hop shops, diverse stores and galleries throughout the area.
Schools are not the greatest, however they are working their hardest to make a comeback and raise the school's reputation.
It's a great place for people looking to locate to an urban, artsy neighborhood with many diverse business establishments.
The area is known for it's jazz clubs & restaurants that serve excellent food. Be sure to visit Lucy Florence Coffee House at 3351 W. 43rd St., with some awesome hometown musicians and local talent.
