Street Fairs Begin Soon

For all those who love street fairs, they are coming back. The first one is scheduled for March 20 from 11:00AM to 4:00PM.

The location is at Washington Place between Sixth Ave. & Grove St.

On Sunday, March 21st, you will find the next street fair from 11:00AM to 4:00PM. The location is Waverly Place between Christopher & MacDougal Sts.

If you are near either place, go down the street and see what the various vendors are offering. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Yeeeahhh! I love love love the street fairs here. I'm a total geek; but, I even love the San Gennaro one.

I also heard that Bloomberg is allowing plenty of them for the summer, since he got so many people to complain there weren't enough last year.

This is so awesome - it's like I can feel spring coming now that I have a street fair to look forward to.

@hhusted Yay! I love street fairs in NYC.. but my favorite is the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival which takes place in Hell's Kitchen on the weekend after Mother's Day in May

@DBlack Amen! Judging by the fine fine sunshine this morning, I'm ready to act like spring is finally here. Though I think I need to wear my coat a little longer.

My favorite street fair is the June Museum Mile. Free museum entry, plus great cultural attractions (often related to the museum content). I saw a great German cabaret singer outside the Neue Galerie

Today was so beautiful... I didn't want to do anything else but wander around outdoors. Hopefully we have a lot more weather like this coming. We are owed from the summer we suffered last year!

I was just thinking that I'd been to a street fair recently, but that was all the way back in September! Crazy how time flies when you're cooped up in your apartment, waiting for winter to end!

I spent the afternoon wandering around Red Hook and it was AMAZING. Just sitting down by the water to have lunch and feel the sunshine on my face. I think it's been months since I had that much exposure to sun all at once.

By the way, related to the original topic, I had hoped to spend the weekend at the flea markets. I had thought of the one in Green Point in particular. But to my disappointment, most of them don't start until later in March or April.

I was wandering around Red Hook today, too. Still a little bit chilly out - but no need for gloves at least!

@DBlack The one in Hell's Kitchen is year-round, though I don't know who goes out for it in the winter. I haven't been myself in months.

I remember the last time I really went out and enjoyed the weather was in the beginning of fall, when it was cooling and felt really amazing after the rainy yucky summer. I spent the day on that pier in Williamsburg, taking in the skyline and all the empty condos on the Brooklyn side. I can't wait to have more days like that...

Well, it is supposed to stay warm. Originally, Sunday was to be cold in the 30's. But now the forecast is for the 50's. I hope that is the case. The first flea market is just two weeks away. Get prepared folks.

@uptowngirl I know! I am loving this weather.

Today I just wandered around Park Slope, sorting through Beacon's Closet and perusing the shops on Fifth Ave. I ended up buying a pair of handmade shoes from Spain at Soula. They'd been marked down from $228 to about $70!

@NeverSleeps Wow! that's such a bargain.! Spanish leather is really fab.. always make it a point to stock up on leather goods on my Spain trips..and I am rarely disappointed..currently I am a craving a handbag made by the Spanish brand Loewe. its quite pricey and I am hoping my uncle who lives in Spain can manage to get it for me on sale sometime soon..

Doesn't it feel really wonderful to buy a pair of shoes (that were once much more than $100) for less than $100? I always feel like I've won some sort of prize when I come across such sales.
