What's the verdict on motorized bicycles?

It seems motorized bicycles which are mainly used by restaurant delivery workers to deliver meals quickly are now causing much pain to New Yorkers( mainly on the Upper East Side apparently)

Thought's ? do you hate them as well or are indifferent as long as your meal delivery gets there on time?

I would imagine it's a big headache fro the drivers to keep track of them, park, make their deliveries, etc. No?

if they would obey the rules like drivers are supposed to, maybe they wouldn't be so much of a problem. It doesn't matter whether it is motorized bikes or regular bikes, if they don't obey the rules, they become a nuisance. I nearly ran into one yesterday. I went to the pet store and as I was walking across the street, a bicyclist came zooming by. He was within inches of me. If I hadn't stopped, we would have collided. I called him a jerk as we went by. He just gave me the third finger.

All kinds of bikers in this city are completely out of their minds and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I love cycling in the city, so I plead guilty to being a bit out of my mind! I really enjoy it, even when I'm cycling in heavy traffic! But I do try to be considerate of cars and pedestrians alike, and stay out of everyone's way.

@JenMac especially the delivery guys then tend to ride like maniacs but then they want the food to get to you piping hot i guess.

@uraniumfish: I'm with you. I rode my bike one time in the city and only from Bank to Jane. That was all I needed to confirm that it is absolute madness.

@Everybody: Bicycle lanes are being installed on various avenues and streets to give bikers their own lane. I truly wonder if it is working. Based on some comments here, it may not be. I know what you mean by crazy bikers. I literally ran into one last year. They have no commonsense. All they care about is getting the food delivered while it is hot.

Did anyone notice an uptick in the number of bikes on the sidewalks during the height of the snowy weather? Park Slope cyclists kept trying to kill me, I swear.
