Ugly New York

In recent days, there have been a spate of anti-gay crimes in the city (one at the Stonewall Inn itself -the cradle of the gay rights movement in NYC). I for one feel its pretty shocking for a liberal city like NYC to still have these incidents. Why should someone's sexual preference be offensive? Why not go take out your anger on pedophiles, domestic abusers, rapists and murders aren't they far more offensive then gays? Shame on you NYC!

This is just tragic, especially when combined with the teen suicides. I hope outreach projects will be ultimately successful in combating prejudice (see: the It Gets Better project). But this really surprises me - in NYC! I wouldn't have thought it...

Some more hate .. it makes me sick to the stomach. I have gay friends who live in NYC and now I am worried for them

@Uptowngirl: With all the people moving in this city, perhaps there are many who are not so liberal and hate gay people. So they fight against them.

It's not like everyone in New York City is equally intelligent, liberal and sane. If anything, we know we have our share of crazies in this city.

I do think that the violence toward gays should be condoned by the government, and we shouldn't have to hear such statements as the ones Paladino is spewing at a time like this.

I'm disgusted by Paladino, really! For such a liberal city, NYC is, at the state level (so really Albany, but still) represented by people whom I find horrific in terms of their views
