Sex and the City the Movie part 2 releases a day from today.. I didnt really care about the first movie though I used to love the TV series as it gave me stars in the eyes about life in NYC. I know better now even then I will watch the movie to indulge in a bit of fantasy.. will you?

My girlfriend was on the set of Sex and the City movie, as an extra. She said the show is overrated. To her, there are a bunch of overrated actors as well. She didn't see what the hype was. At least this is what she said.

Honestly, I never saw the movie, nor the TV show. I'm not into watching that type of movie. I'm more into adventure, sci-fi, mysteries, fantasies, and thrillers.

@hhusted I wouldn't expect you to see the movie ..its a chick flick after all but the influence the show and the movies have had on people world wide is quite phenomenal! I personally know women who reside in developing countries who think they can relate to Carrie and her tribe.. while in reality their lives are nothing like the lives of these four as depicted in the movies. Last night I met a producer for CBS who is on holiday in HK and even she remarked on how this factor had managed to reap in much moolah for the SATC movies.

@hhusted seems like NYkers are welcoming the girls back for there are a spate of SATC parties this weekend at various restaurants and bars details are in this morning's issue of AMNY.

@Uptowngirl: In the present economy, if it works and makes money for NYC, that is a great thing.

@hhusted you will not believe this but I was looking for the reviews of the movie on Fandango.com and I was shocked to see a woman write in from Amsterdam to say that she and her girlfriends were flying into NYC to take in the movie !

So I guess it's doing something for NYC tourism even though one of the scathing reviews listed bemoans the fact that the movie hardly has any shots of New York City , a beloved character, that has been eliminated. sad!!

It sounds absolutely terrible, if not offensive! I loved the TV series but I think the films - as well as the contrived finale - really ruined it for me.

@uptowngirl That's crazy about those ladies from Amsterdam... If I had that much money to burn, I think I'd put it to better use.

@ajadedidealist I was a fan of the show when I was in high school... or, when it first came out. But I have a feeling the sequel won't really live up to much; I thought the first film and the finale were pretty contrived as well!

@NeverSleeps: I agree with you. Why spend all that money to see a dumb movie anyway. Wait for it to come out on DVD, then they can watch it at home.

I loved the show when it was on -- and, I do still merit Michael Patrick King for doing something groundbreaking for women characters and television. But, the sequel looked awful and my friends who have seen it said they almost walked out it was so terrible. Guess it goes to show, you should always end on a high note.

Read somewhere that SPJ was planning a third movie in the series but given the weak box figures , I think this marks the end of the road for SATC2.

I rather watch a movie in my home because this way I can actually hear it. When you go to the movies, there are many ignorant people who talk too loud or decide to leave their cell phones on.

@uptowngirl I wonder what kind of box office showings sequels usually see, though. I don't imagine they reel in the big crowds on a regular basis.

@JenMac I'm not surprised; I can't imagine what there is left to make a movie about?!!?

@NeverSleeps the only really successful sequels that I can remember perhaps belong to the Star Wars trilogy ?

@Uptowngirl: What about Indiana Jones. That was so successful that Harrison Ford one awards for his performance. He's my kind of guy and my favorite actor.
