Sick of food chains!!

Tell me, anyone, who is sick of all the goddam food chains in this city??? Give me some of the authentic fresh food that New York was known for... No more Subway, Quizmos, Burger King, etc etc... And if you're gonna make pizza, do it right like Lombardi's or not at all....

I love the food chains! With such a busy life these days, who has time to cook. I'm sure when we have kids this will change, not the most healthy options. Does Bubba Gump qualify as a chain?

I agree AJ, but unfortunately they are here to stay. And watch the health crisis and the drain on welfare 20 years from now.

I can't stand chains, period! In England many mid-range restaurants are small chains with branches in London/Oxford/Bath/Cheltenham/etc, which I find very strange...they are quite decent, though. The only chain I like in NYC is Starbucks, as well as the small Three Guys franchise (chain of three)

I hate food chains like McDonald's and Burger King. They are bad for the health. Read articles by the FDC and other consumer groups and you will find there are plenty of talk about how bad the food is.

I can't even remember the last time I went to a food chain? And I think you have to live in a certain area - near Times Square or Downtown Brooklyn perhaps - to really see a lot of them.

@Everyone the only food chain I seem to frequent is Energy Kitchen and that too only because they promise everything that they serve is baked/steamed and under 500 calories(meals that is). I have only tried their burgers and they are quite tasty for healthy food.

@Uptowngirl: Do you go there often, or just when the need requires it? I know you said frequently in your post. I was just wondering how frequent is frequent.

I love food chains! Granted, I don't frequent them but there is something really comforting about them. A girlfriend of mine and I do white trash date night once every couple of months at Olive Garden in Chelsea. It's hysterical and it totally reminds of growing up. Those are the only kinds of restaurants that suburbia has so it's very nostalgic. And, it's just a habit of mine from being a kid; but, whenever I've had too much to drink, nothing beats McDonalds for me. It's just a taste of the good ole days.

@hhusted recently once or twice a week as I have been feeling too lazy to cook for one person and the burgers at Energy Kitchen are on sale of $5 all throughout March .. a real steal because they are tasty as well. hhusted you seem to like health food, you should check it out.

@Uptowngirl: I do my best to eat healthy. I admit I go to Sunflower Diner once in a while for a turkey burger, but most of the time I do my best to eat right.
