New Yorkers love fashion

NYC is regarded as a city that leads the fashion world and recently a bunch of New Yorkers proved by standing for hours in the pouring rain in clad in nothing but their underwear for a chance to score free clothes from the Barcelona based brand Desigual which recently opened a store on shopper's row- 34th Street and Fifth Avenue. No amount of free designer garb would entice me to strip down to my underwear in the heart of NYC.Would any of you? Btw the terms of the challenge was that the first 100 people who dashed into the store in their underwear were allowed to keep any two items that fit..

Yeah...seems a little too humiliating if you ask me.

@And, really, to be that humiliated only to get a coat? I'd rather spend a couple of hours working so I can buy myself that coat. Don't find the Desigual style all that appealing anyway.

I wouldn't mind, as long as I was wearing sensible-modest underwear - nothing too skimpy or revealing. (Could I get away with a bodysuit, I wonder...) Then again, I hail from the land-of-topless-beaches. (Seriously! Great idea! Nothing worse than an awkward chest tan....)

Haaaa! I guess it depends on the weather. This is kind of a lame publicity stunt, though, if you ask me. But I guess it's been proven that you need only to get a bunch of naked people together to bring mass amounts of attention to your organization (see: Improv Everywhere)>

@ajadedidealist So true, I have a one piece swimsuit which has translucent panel in the belly area. On my recent Bali holiday somehow I got burned through the panel and had this big, pink square on my stomach, at first I thought I had an allergic reaction to some seafood then I realized it was the suit that was at fault. Good grief!

@uptowngirl LOL! I have a story of being out in the sun at my first concert as a teenager and getting a sunburn on the part in my hair--who would have thought to put sunscreen there!

Ouch, @uraniumfish! I used to get forehead burns on a strip near my hairline. I have an insanely, almost inhumanely high forehead (my profile pic doesn't even begin to express it), and so a normal round of sunblock application would always miss the very tip of my forehead - i'd get the weirdest "strip" burns until Ilearned to practically sunblock my hair!
