Another Groupon for NYC

This looks pretty similar in concept to Groupon, so I guess there will be a battle between them soon?

Or maybe it's nice to have several options and deals going at the same time. Looks like they're only in New York for now.

The more sites like that the better, I say. Even if I have yet to take advantage of such deals.

It seems like a very NYC thing to do - viral marketing, offers that depend upon attracting our friends and creating a "buzz." Are New Yorkers all just sheep deep down?

I saw another one of those sites just now... I'm trying to find it.

Ah, this is it: LivingSocialDeals.com

But I'm not sure if it's the same kind of group thing - where you have to wait till a bunch of people buy it before the coupon actually goes into effect. You have to give up your email to get the coupons, and I am always loath to do that.

@NeverSleeps The deal they have on now for $300 worth of spa treatments at $97 is amazing! I'm seriously giving it thought.

I've said it before: I love the recession! I can actually afford spa treatments these days...Seriously, I've never looked better.

@Uraniumfish Which spas have you been going to? Do spas treat you with indifference if you march in with a coupon?

@BroadwayBK I haven't had that problem so long as I put on a certain hauteur and intimate that I'm interested in coming back to try other services later (read, work to impress me if you want your tip). Seems to work just fine.

@Neversleeps - You know how to get around the email thing? You sign up for an email at one of the free sites (hotmail, gmail, etc) and anytime you sign up for a website for ANYTHING, use that email address. If the website sends you something useful, forward it to your main, personal account. Other than that, you can ignore it and it will all get deleted over time, and you never give out your personal email.

I know it SOUNDS like it's a lot of work to manage, but once you start doing it that way, you realize it really isn't that much at all, and is SOO worth the spam free email.

Yet another copycat of Groupon:

http://www.coupme.com/

Man, you know you have a good thing when everybody and their programmer BFF decides to try and copy you...

@Basic I do that too - I have about ten gmail accounts.

@Uraniumfish It's getting difficult to keep up with all of these coupons. The overflow makes me not want to bother with any of them.
