"Country Club Area"
This area is referred to as the Country Club area in the multiple listing service. This area surrounds the Los Verdes Golf Course as well as an area to the east of Hawthorne Boulevard and south of Crest Road. The area below Hawthorne Boulevard and Crest Road is known as Monte Verde, and the area to the east of Hawthorne Boulevard is known as the the Monaco area. Other neighborhoods include Alta Vista. Many homes in this area enjoy ocean views. Most of the homes in this area were built as tract homes in the 1960's and 1970's.
Condo and townhome developments in this area include Seagate and the Island View condos.The only commercial development in this area is a Ralphs Supermarket, which services the entire west side of Rancho Palos Verdes. The closest other shopping area is Golden Cove center at the western end of Hawthorne Blvd. The drive to the Peninsula Center shopping area is still not that long however.
The Palos Verdes school district is among the highest rated in the State. This location is about half way between the two High schools on the Peninsula, Palos Verdes High and Peninsula High School . There are no attendance boundaries, so students have the option of attending either school. Access to Ridgecrest Intermediate is an easy drive.
