Is there a lot of farmland around Grand Junction?

What kind of crops grow here?

Yes! Grand Junction and its neighboring towns (Fruita, Palisade) are known for their peaches and orchards. Grand Junction also has some of the best vineyards in Colorado.

Along the Colorado River Valley or Grand Valley area around Grand Junction there is the water and climate for growing beets, orchards of many kinds, especially grapes & peaches, and there is some traditional hay etc too. There is also lavender farms and even a festival for it!

HeatherS It does sound fun huh...I found online that the 3rd Annual Lavender Festival will be held next summer on July 12 & 13, 2013. It is organized by The Lavender Association of Western Colorado in downtown Palisade, so just east of Grand Junction:)
