"Battle Creek - Trying To Overcome"

Battle Creek is located off of I-94 in Michigan, about half way between Detroit and Chicago. It has a population of about 55,000.

You can find almost any type of cuisine in Battle Creek. Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, Indian, etc. About the only type of restaurant lacking is Italian.

There are several clubs for nightlife. Planet Rock is one club that features lot of live rock bands in a fairly small, intimate venue. There is also a roller-skating rink, two movie theaters and a youth center called Full Blast with a water park and laser tag.

Most residents of the city are on the city and water system. The electric and gas companies are local. There is also a local cable company and AT & T provides telephone service.

Battle Creek Health Systems provides almost any type of medical service needed. There are plenty of general physicians and specialist in Battle Creek to take care of all medical needs.

There is a community college and a branch of Western Michigan University for those wishing to acquire a bachelor degree.

There is also a small airport.

Industry and the local economy have suffered in the past few years as Battle Creek was a strong industrial town and my of those businesses are moving south or overseas. Battle Creek is trying to revitalize itself and move toward a more service-based economy.

Major employers are Kellogg Company, Kellogg Foundation, Denso and the federal government,

Battle Creek used to be a wonderful place to raise a family and is trying to get back to being the vital, booming town it once was.
