Although no neighborhood is 100% safe 100% of the time, there are several popular neighborhoods that do appear to have lower crime than other parts of the city. I'd say, that in most cases, the saying "You get what you pay for" applies heavily. With that being said, Buckhead and Midtown are some of the safer neighborhood choices in the heart of the city. They are both pretty up-scale communities that include retail shops as well as residential housing (and apartment) options. Cost of living can get pretty expensive, so be sure to have all your ducks in a row. On the other hand... if you are looking for the more quiet, safe neighborhoods (that are a little further away from the city living), you might want to look into the outskirts of Atlanta. Sandy Springs and Dunwoody are both becoming really popular suburbs for those considering to relocate.
