There are plenty of wonderful family friendly neighborhoods all throughout Atlanta. If you want to stay closer to the city, I would recommend you consider: North Druid Hills, Brookhaven, or Buckhead. Candler Park is also really nice, as well as some select areas in the Grant Park community. NOTE: If you are considering Grant Park, please be sure to check out the different blocks, because some parts are a little nicer than others. Dunwoody and Sandy Springs are also fairly nice neighborhoods for families; but they are both a little further away from some of the inner city attractions. If you don't mind living a little ways away from the inner city, you might also want to check out Alpharetta, as it has some pretty good schools in the area.

As far as what neighborhoods have the best commute....where will be be trying to commute to? Is there a specific area that you will be working in? Because different neighborhoods might be located on different parts of town, it's hard to tell you the best commuting neighborhoods without knowing this information. Either way, you and your family have a lot of great options to consider. Good luck!
