"Suburb in a City"

Not to be confused with the sketch 8th STREET, 8th Avenue is a lovely suburban street in the Sunset District of San Francisco. This is a funny place - it is located in one of the most famous metropolitan cities in the world, yet somehow feels worlds apart. This neighborhood in particular might as well be one big leafy suburb, as the public transportation is limited, the hills are more winding than in some of the towns nearby, and SUVS are a common sight.

However, drive for five minutes and San Francisco as many may know it starts to come into sight, with the Civic Center and Union Square relatively nearby. Head north and you will find the lovely Presidio and iconic Golden Gate Bridge. It may be easy to forget that 8th Avenue is in the middle of San Francisco, but it should certainly not be overlooked if you consider moving here. Just don't expect to have bars and nightclubs at your doorstep.

"8th Ave-Inner Sunset"

I lived on 8th Ave between Lincoln Way and Irving St. for several years. The Golden Gate park is right across the street. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops on 9th Ave and Irving which are steps away. This street is some what quiet, except for traffic on Lincoln Way, lots of nice houses and the neighbors are super nice.

"Pleasant street that runs from the Sunset district to Forest Hill."

8th Avenue is a Sunset district avenue street that begins at Golden Gate Park and runs to the upper Forest Hill district. The north end of 8th Avenue features a wide variety of restaurants and shops as it’s very close to the busy 9th and Irving shopping area. A lot of different types of restaurants encompass the area forming a nice place to go for dinner or lunch.

Housing is ample on 8th Avenue ranging from Lincoln Boulevard all the way to the top of Forest Hill. The houses on the north end (the sunset district portion) have very average townhouses with few multi-floor apartment style complexes. As you travel south on 8th Avenue, you will eventually hit the Forest Hill District pillars notifying that you have entered the district. The housing is generally nicer in the Forest Hill District, but the difference is sometimes indistinguishable.

Public transportation is very good around the area with the N-Judah Train and various bus stops close to 8th Avenue.
