14th St, Oak Center

I go to school right around this area and live here. 14th Street is the hub of heart of Downtown Oakland. This is the place where you can find all of the museums, cultural and night life excursions. I don't really care for anything but the latter. I love the fact that I live so close to so many of the area's bars. There are also a couple of trendy night clubs in the area, but I'm not really much of a clubber myself. Traffic is actually less havoc in the downtown area around 14th Street then it is in areas that are close to the Freeways. This can be a great place to raise a family if you a city oriented family and an even greater place for young couples and singles. In the summer time, 14th Street and the surrounding area offer some of the best views for watching fireworks during 4th of July celebrations.
