I'm looking to buy a home in Woodlawn. Specifically near 66th and University Ave. Should i buy?

This would be my first home. I am 22. How is the area?

If you are planning on living there, then no. Woodlawn is still a VERY dangerous neighborhood (in some years it was even worse than the notorious Englewood neighborhood). If it is for investment, then yes since Woodlawn is slowly feeling the gentrifying effects of Hyde Park.

brahv It is mainly for investing. I see a lot of plans for constructing luxurious condos in east Woodlawn. I feel like this area is on the verge of gentrification. the city is putting a lot of money into the area as well.

mrdrfez There is gentrification going on and it is a good investment. Just don't ever ever EVER visit your property at night.
