"Close to everything!"

I've never lived in Windsor, but I used to work there. The thing that I think appealed to people about Windsor was that it's right in the middle of everything! Windsor - the city itself - is totally a small town and doesn't offer a lot of the "big city" amenities, but all of those amenities are within 20 minutes. For great shopping, it's less than 15 minutes to Centerra in Loveland, about 20 minutes to Greeley, and less than 15 to Fort Collins. I found a lot of people who live in Windsor choose this location if their family works in the different areas (example: wife works in Fort Collins, husband works in Greeley). And it totally has that small town feel - there's only the one high school, and fewer elementary/middle schools than the surrounding cities, so you know who your neighbors are, there's fun small town festivals, and a lot of community spirit!
Pros
  • centrally located to three other cities

"Windsor is a great place for families and commuters"

Windsor is a nice bedroom community for commuters working in Loveland, Fort Collins and Greeley to the east. It has a quiet farm town feeling and before the subdivisions were built it was a very small community with some homes dating back to the late 1880's. The land around the town and the lake gives to farmland and is really pretty.

The Poudre River winds its way along the boundary of the town there is a bike trail along the river that goes all the way to Greeley. There are also a lot of parks and places for kids (and adults) to play on playgrounds, basketball courts, a skate park and the Windsor Lake is a nice place for a stroll.

The real estate is reasonable and some of the new neighborhoods around the lake are really nice. This is a great place to live and a great place to raise kids especially if you want to get away from the hustle of Fort Collins.
Pros
  • centrally located to three other cities
  • great place for families
  • lots of lakes and open space
Cons
  • bedroom community

"A gorgeous little town centrally located"

Windsor falls in the middle of a triangle that connects Ft. Collins, Loveland, and Greeley. Due to this it's a great area for those who commute to any of these other cities for work or business. Although it's border is right along I-25, the homes are far enough away to not get any of the highway noise. Homes here look more upscale and the median asking price is $358,000 although the median sell price is a much lower $275,000. The neighborhoods are all well tended and have kept their looks. There is plenty of open space so even when you're in town shopping it has that country feel to it.

The schools here, from elementary to high school, have all received an 8 rating on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest. This is not common for all the schools to be scored so high in one area, so they seem to be doing right by the children, at least by state testing standards. Most of the parents give the teachers and administration high marks as well.

Windsor definitely seems to be geared towards families. There are numerous lakes, parks, and open areas for kids to play at. You can almost always see someone walking their dog or jogging by. The people all seem to be very friendly and helpful when you need.

I think this is a great community for anyone who is looking for a bit slower pace of living. The easy commute to the other nearby cities makes this a great place to call home.
