My favorite is Whole Foods, but that's for specality dinners and company. They have awesome seafood and cheese. For a big shop we have a Super Stop and Shop. A new store just opened on Central Avenue called HMart, as well a Trader Joes on Central Avenue.
But for those of us that live on the South side of the city, I frequent the Rooster Market, now this is a small village like store with everything you need, and everyone you know stops in for coffee in the morning, and last minute dinner items at night. When you have to buy milk and bread, the Rooster Market is the place to stop. But, the best thing about Rooster Market is "Frank" the meat man. He has the best meats around. During the holiday's his wall is plastered with special orders. I've been using "Frank" for over 10 years and will not buy meats from anyone else.

Well, I personally like to mix it up a little and alternate between the equally good Super Stop and Shop on Westchester Avenue and the ShopRite located in the downtown City Center. Both have a huge selection of food goods and great weekly deals. The plus side of ShopRite is that they have a nice little buffet area that serves up American fare, salad and soups. There is also freshly made sushi and sandwiches. You can grab a beverage at their beverage fountain and sit down in their modest but nice cafe. For those seeking organic products and super fresh (and colorful) produce, seafood and fine meats, there is the lovely but far more expensive Whole Foods Market on Bloomingdale Road. They also have a buffet filled with delicious ethnic foods (mostly Indian) as well as a salad, soup bar and larger cafe with a microwave.
