West Pullman is not exactly the safest place in Chicago. In fact, I'd call it one of the more dangerous areas. There may be a safe area or two, but not many. Keep your distance.

West Pullman has some dense areas with a higher crime rate, but parts of the neighborhood aren't too bad. I wouldn't say the neighborhood as a whole is "safe", but parts of it are okay.
