"Fresh to Your Family, From Across the Alley"

Mostly brick two flats with a light sprinkling of old bungalows/victorians. Out of beer again? No problem, you're within crawling distance of the Jewel in your back yard. Get some for the folks in the downstairs flat -- they'll be up all night talking on their back porch. But most neighbors are quiet. Some high speed driving but not too bad. Welles park is just up the street. Parking is easy because most of the low density. Lincoln Ave bars and restaurants beckon seductively. But the brown line is almost a mile away, so get on your bike. Or the Lincoln ave bus.

"A Shortcut for Impatient Lawrence Avenue Drivers"

A mix of single families and brick flats/condos. Busy Lawrence avenue on the north end funnels pissed off speeders over the speedbumps and down to Leland, where they violently turn to get on to Western. There are constantly cars racing down this street all day and night. Not much in the way of retail or food right here, but it's a five minute walk to Lincoln Square and its Western Brown Line station. The post office is right on the corner on Lawrence, but stay out of the disgusting Burger King and Little Caesars. Oh, and drunks roaming the alleys may be tempted to bed down in your foyer for the night, falling asleep with urine-soaked cigarette butts wedged into their grimy fists. Permit parking.

"Railroad tracks on the right of me, gastropub on the left, here I am, stuck in the middle with you."

Nestled between Lincoln Avenue and Ravenswood, this short East-West asphalt street is dominated by chewy single family homes, with a flaky crust of apartments or condos on the Easten and Western edges. There are some loft condos on the east end across the street from one of those Ravenswood high-tech corporate office lofts. There's EL tracks running over a little playground, next to a million dollar house that's been on the market forever. Houses, some nice, some seem like section eight. Brick 3 flats, 6 flats. Then on the corner of Lincoln Ave, Quiznos! And across from that, The Brownstone. Sometimes drunken Longhorns stumble loudly from here. They have good tater-tots and buffalo wing wraps (the bar). Steps to the Irving Park Brown Line station, Stauber's Ace Hardware, Trader Joe's and ton of other restaurants and banks and things. Parking is tight. One problem with this street is that the buildings get smaller the further away they are. But if you walk towards them, they get bigger.
