"Decent, quiet neighborhood"

I've lived pretty close to this part of Cactus, it's mostly residential, heading west there is a larg park with a playground, waling paths and a community pool at 37th Ave, and a high school right there as well. There is a main district police department on Cactus at 35th Ave as well. Mostly there are homes and the occational shopping center, the homes are separated from the street with side streets and curbs which protects residents vehicles and if children are outside playing. There is a bus line along Cactus which links to Phoenix's new metro transportation that will be in affect at the end of December 2008.

"Decent area, not a lot of resources nearby"

There really is not a lot to say about this neighborhood/steet. It's plain, the homes are simple, as is the landscaping and there is not a lot of shopping or other ammenities in the nearby area. There is ASU West campus within bike riding distance, as well as public trasportation, there are basic necessities such as grocery stores and gas stations.

"Good shopping resources, close to freeway"

This is a great location to live near, there is a lot of different things that meet many needs. There is a large hospital (John C Lincoln) the DMV, a Costco, Target, Michaels, Bath and Body Works, Petco and Famous Footwear. There is also an AMC 30 with an IMAX, Macaroni Grill, Claim Jumpers, Chilis, and Black Angus. Weekend evenings see a lot of teenagers and young people at the movies and surrounding stores. The neighborhood varies from hotel-like, weekly rentals to nice large home moving north or west.

"Great, if you like to hear gun shots a lot"

I went to school in this area, where we went jogging around the neighborhood at 6am every morning. This was a scary part of town, a lot of vagrants, a lot of criminal and police activity. Cost of renting/purchasing homes is low for this reason, there are many spanish grocery stores in the area and public transportation is good. Commuting to the freeway is quick, though there is typically traffic in this area. Alhambra High School close, near Camelback and 37th Ave, I don't know much about elementary schools in the area though. There is a nearby park as well that is decently maintained by the city and has running trails. Overall, I personally would not feel safe living here, and there really isn't any special attractions either.

"Great place to go out! Lots to do"

The vicinity of 91st Ave from Peoria Ave to Glendale Ave is the home for a variety nightlife activities. There is the Jobing.com arena which houses the AZ Cardinals and was the location of the 2008 Superbowl, as wells as plays host for a variety of concerts and events throughout the year. There is also many newer shopping centers, bars, restuarants and movie theater. Closer to Peoria Ave, there is more outdoor and sporting options with the Peoria Sports Complex which has an ice rink and hosts Coyotes hockey. This is one of my favorite parts of Phoenix to hangout in, there are things to do for people of all ages, the Westgate area (bars near the Jobing.com arena) is crowded on weekends and popular with people between the ages of 21 to 35 ish. There are a lot of police on weekends as well monitoring activity, so be careful and safe!

"Close to a lot of good things, not the place to live though"

This portion of 52nd St is characterized by older, run-down businesses and homes, with a few newer shiopping centers sprawled throughout. There doesn't seem to be a lot of attention paid in regards to keeping the streets looking nice, they are clean from trash, but there is a lot of grafetti on closed businesses and bus stations. Public bus lines run through the area and go down Tempe and east to south Scottsdale which both offer a lot more options as far as shopping, eating and entertainment.

"Scary place to live!"

I lived at 25th Ave and Northern, at this particular part of 25th Ave there is rampant police activity and a lot of theft. In the 6 months I lived in this neighborhood, the bank down the street was robbed and the theft was chased by police on foot, in cars and by helicoper right in front of my house. My apartment was broke into twice, and I was aware of 6 other break-ins in my same apartments in that same 6 months. I went through 5 different neighbors, and there was a high number of child molestors and rehabilitating druggies and offenders of other natures placed in the neighborhood. I was not familiar with Phoenix when I moved into this region, and would not recommend it to anyone. On the upside, public transportation is good, there is an LA Fitness very nearby, there is also an Abertsons and a Spouts grocery store within 1 mile as well as some fast food and good hole-in-the-wall asian food restuarants.

"Beautiful Desert Community"

I lived on this street for approximately 2 years, the neighborhood is newer, clean and well landscaped. There is a school very close by, and well as several parks and community pools. Apartments and condos in the area have many ammenities, pools, dog parks, and walking trails. The cost of rent and purchase is high in this area being that its on the outskirts of town. There are several state parks within a 10 mile radius, and Lake Pleasent is across the freeway about 8 miles west. Anthem (approximately 5 miles north) has a large upper scale outlet mall as well as restuarants and medical services. In the last year (2007), there has been additional building of retail facilities, such as a Kohls and Home Depot. The Ben Avary shooting range is about a mile away and is open till about 10pm, so the sound of firing is audible, though not bothersome. There has been a lot of road and other construction lately making traffic backed up at times, and weekend traffic means a lot of trucks hauling boats to and from the lake. There is no night life in this area other than one bar and grill which plays live music a fe nights a week. Overall a really nice community, though at a high cost as well.

"Up and coming family neighborhood"

Norterra Parkway has gown significantly in the last few years, both residentially and commerically. It is clusters of neighborhood that expand out into the desert, but are close to the I-17 to make for easy commute..There has also been new overpasses built recently making to easier to access the I-17. There is two large shopping centers at the intersection of Norterra and Happy Valley that include a Wal-Mart, Home Depot, fast food, restuarants, Best Buy, AMC, Paradise Bakery, gas stations, Tutor Time (day care), and some upscale shopping as well. Many employees of USAA reside in this area, making it classic middle to upper middle class and very family friendly. There is really no nightlife locations here, nor is there a grocery store very close by.

"Surprisingly nice for proximity to freeway"

North 28th Drive runs parallel to the I-17 and is approximately .5 mile from the freeway. This review focuses on the area near and north of metrocenter Mall (Northern to Thunderbird) It is quiet, the sound of traffic is distant, makes for easy commuting to have a main freeway so close. Metrocenter mall is the only shopping in the direct neighborhood, but Arrowhead Mall is only about 6 miles to the east. There are running paths around the lakes in the neighborhood, parks within walking distance and Rose Mofford Sports Complex is only about 2 miles away, there they have football and softball fields, a large dog park and running paths along the canal. There are moany restuarants in the area as well, Red Lobster, Chilis, Olive Garden, Sweet Tomatoes, Outback Steakhouse and Souper Salad. I don't have children myself, but I know there are nearby elementary and high schools as well as a major police precinct within about 1 mile. I lived in this area about 2 years and never had any problems whatsoever, many of the residents in the area are older, not a lot of children. Many people have small dogs, and there is an active attempt to keep ferrel cats from running around, so people who have pet cats should keep them indoors..;;The lakes in the area are my favorite feature of this area, it seems to make the summer temperatures a little cooler having large bodies of water so nearby. The Metrocenter mall has had a problem with vehicle theft in the last fe years, so if you visit the mall, don't leave valuables and lock it up!
