"Great way to get to Little Italy"

This street has the trolley and train running on it or parallel to it, so it can be noisy when the train goes through. Otherwise, it has some bars and clubs on it, and if you can take it right into Little Italy, where you can get all sorts of good eats. It's quiet at night and not too well lit, so if you're skittish about that type of thing, take heed.

"Nice mix of residential and entertainment"

There are good spots to eat on this street, as well as good cafes and dessert places. It's also got a good amount of residential housing so there is a neighborly feel to it in the evenings. This street is close to Horton Plaza which makes for good shopping. It's also close to the Gaslamp, so if you find free parking in this area after the meters expire - take it!

"This street is divided by the Civic Center"

Located in the heart of downtown but north of the Gaslamp, this street has a few hidden gems. There are some good nightclubs with nice concert venues, and parking can usually be found in the evenings after the meters expire. It's not always as well lit as C Street or other areas of the Gaslamp, so be aware of that.

"Good detour"

This street is useful to bypass the downtown traffic, or even to get from downtown to Point Loma. It has some chain restaurants on it, some chain hotels, and some businesses. At the southern end, there is a park that overlooks the bay and is nice to walk around in. This is usually a good road to use to get from Point A to Point B and not get stuck in traffic on I-5 or downtown.

"Hub of activity day and night"

This street is on the outskirts of the Gaslamp district, which is downtown San Diego's nightlife locale. The street has hotels and restaurants. It's also right alongside Horton Plaza, which is a good place to get shopping done. It has several bus lines that run on it, as well as some convenience stores.

"Good for families and tourists who don't want 24 hour party"

This street is beautiful. It's right on the beach, so it has the salty sea air and the roar of the ocean. There are a handful of restaurants and a coffee shop along the street too, but they all close by 9pm. A few bars are also on this strip, so it can be a little loud when the bars close. But otherwise, it's peaceful and quiet almost all the time. Great vacation place if you don't want to feel like you're in a frat party, and good place to live for families.

"Nice location because it's near the Gaslamp but isn't IN the Gaslamp"

This area is near Seaport Village, which is sort of a business visitor/tourist destination. So, the actual neighborhood quiets down at night, and most food/drink establishments close early. But, it's within walking distance to the Gaslamp and doesn't have all of the shenanigans of the Gaslamp. The train goes right by that area, however, so if you plan to live or stay there you should be aware the train whistle can be very disruptive at night and in the evenings.

"Great stuff to do day and night"

This street is wonderful for daytime activities, like getting a bite to eat or doing a little shopping. It's also great at night for wine bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. The people are friendly, and the streets are rarely empty. For these reasons, the neighborhood also feels safe. This street is also a central location for street fairs and parades in the area.

"Residential and quiet - no nightlife, no restaurants"

This is an area between downtown and Banker's Hill. A law school is nearby which means it's quiet and isn't too rowdy. There aren't a lot of shops or restaurants that stay open after business hours. The Catholic Church has a cafeteria in it which has a nice lunch selection.

"Near the trolley and Horton Plaza"

Third Avenue near downtown (between Ash through to Broadway) is a decent area of downtown. The trolley stops at 3rd and C, and there is a 24 hour public restroom there that is clean and safe. There is also the Civic Center, as well as some small cafes nearby. At night, the homeless congregate there so if that makes you nervous, be aware of it.
