"Another Shining Example of Saint Paul's Great Neighborhoods"

What makes Brenner so spectacular is that there is nothing spectacular about Brenner Avenue. I regularly visit a friend on this street, and I am never surprised by anything. Clean streets, kids at the park, I am never afraid and always enjoy my time in the area. Its proximity to Snelling Avenue and Rosedale Mall keep the essentials close at hand, yet the street is far enough from Snelling to be quiet. I would have no problem if I were forced to move to Brenner Avenue.

"Nice Neighborhoods and a Pretty Park, but Stay in at Night"

This section of Lexington avenue is fairly low speed in comparison the the major street that is Lexigton Avenue a few blocks north. The area is residential with clean and safe neighborhoods. This section of Lexington is also home to a slow, winding path through Como Park. Como is a beautiful park with golf in the summer, skiing in the winter (small downhill and cross-country) and a lake with a walking / running / biking path. Beware though, Como Park has a tendency to attract shady figures after night fall. Bring your kids and let them enjoy the park in the day, but be home by dark.

"Good Neighborhoods, Good Rec Center"

Dale Street N is a residential section of the long dale street. It is a busy street, but the properties are nice away from the traffic. I always feel good about visiting friends in this area. There isn't much for retail shops or consumer goods within walking distance, but the drive won't be too far. A real highlight of the street is the North Dale Recreation Center. This is an excellent park with a great playground for kids. In addition, the center has year round sports leagues for kids. The neighborhoods are safe and the rec center is great, making this area good for families with children.

"A convient street"

I drove on this road everyday for almost 3 years and it's a very nice street. It connects to major streets like Dale and Lexington so you cannot get lost driving. There are spots where there are houses, but there is a large commercial area as well. The neighborhoods are quiet and pleasant, despite being on such a busy street. It is nice to walk in away from Larpenteur. Mainly, Larpenteur is commercial and there are many small business as well as many big chains, so take your pick! I personally enjoy Jimmy John's and Dino's Gyros. The overall vibe is pretty good. Some areas are a bit scary at night but overall it is pleasant.

"Can't Think of Anything Good Ever on Rice Street"

Rice street is a long, busy commercial street running north to south near the center of the Saint Paul metro area. I have never heard about anything good happening on Rice Street. It is home to dilapidated night clubs (I dare you to take a look at Club Cancun and still go in) and low-end stores (The "Strange Funiture Store" comes to mind). One of the nicest maintained stores on the street is the Aldi. I would not want to live too close to this street. Come for the McDonald's or Taco Bell, leave before nightfall.

"Safe Pleasant Street near Lake"

Heinel Drive is a small street in Roseville, a suburb of Saint Paul. The street is clean and safe in an excellent neighborhood. In addition to Owasso Lake, one of the best Muskee fishing lakes in Minnesota, the street is close to several parks and walking trails. I have visited this street regularily (weekly) for over 4 years, and I can never recall seeing a single train on the nearby tracks. It is very common to see families walking babies in strollers or people of all ages out for a bike ride. Except for a few grouchy neighbors who have called the police on my friend's dog (no barking, is always fenced in) the neighborhood is great.

"Safe neighborhood Close to Beach, Retail, City Life"

Morehead Avenue is a residential street in White Bear Lake Minnesota. The neighborhood is excellent, clean, safe, and has all the amenities. Within walking distance is an excellent beach of White Bear Lake. This particular beach gets deep very gradually, allowing you to walk out about 100 yards and still be only up to your knees. This makes the beach great for small children, or anyone wanting to play a game while splashing in the water.

This street is close to the highway 61 (Yes, of Bob Dylan fame) as well as highway 96. These busy roads ensure that the neighborhood is well-connected to any thing you may need, groceries, retail shops, restaurants.

The street isn't perfect, and I am not a resident so I cannot provide a more detailed rating, but it certainly has no major detractors, meriting the 5 stars.

"Charming Housing Development in Fast Growing Suburb"

This street runs through a small residential housing development in Hugo, MN. Hugo is the Metro Area's fastest growing suburb, and the growth is visible. Houses under construction and brand new houses for sale can always be seen nearby. The neighborhood is clean and safe, an excellent place to live. In contrast to the growth, much of the area's original marshland remains. Ponds, swamps, and prairie grass give this suburb a more out-doorsy feel.

The only detractor to Hugo is, despite its growth, shopping has failed to keep up with the area. A grocery store, pizza place, and Subway sandwich shop are about the only things in the city proper. The large White Bear Lake and Forest Lake are reasonably close by, excusing this small inconvenience.

As a note, this street was the hardest struck by the devastating 2008 tornado. The disaster drew the community much closer, and at the time of writing, most houses destroyed in the tornado are almost completely rebuilt.

"Busier Street with both Commercial and Residential, Neighborhood's Best Eats"

Selby Avenue is divided into 2 sections, a struggling commercial street and a typical residential street. The commercial Selby does not thrive as it should, there are several diamonds in the rough. In between the small-time businesses that frequently change owners and names, there are some of the best restaurants in the local area. It is home to the hip pizzeria, Pizza Luce, delicious Thai food at Taste of Thailand, and several other great restaurants on this street. If you live in the area, be sure to cruise Selby and scope out the food. The restaurants are small and hardly advertise, but are an excellent secret of Saint Paul.

"Small Sleepy Street in the Heart of Residential Saint Paul"

N Griggs Street is a small portion of Griggs street in Saint Paul. The street is mainly residential, although it is divided by Interstate 94 and the commercial University Avenue. The feel of the streets is fairly safe, although you may want to think before going out at night, as is the case in most cities.

Because it is such a small street, its resources are limited. However, it connects to the vibrant Grand Avenue, home of great retail shops and fine dining. It is near several schools, such as the excellent parochial school Central Lutheran School. The most spectacular part of the street is Griggs park. Once a mediocre park with a marginal recreation center, the city decided to shut it down. The residents knew that the park would be over-run by gangs and drug use. So, in a brilliant community effort, the neighborhood reclaimed Griggs Park, cleaned and re-opened the recreation center, keeping the park a safe place to play for children.

"Sketchy street with reedeming qualities"

Marshall Avenue runs through the heart of the Old Rondo neighborhood. Once a thriving community, the construction of interstate 94 destroyed the local charm. The neighborhood was broken up and never returned to its previous splendor. Once part of Saint Paul's "Urban Forest", huge Elm trees provide a beautiful canopy over the street. However, Dutch Elm disease has thinned the number of trees in recent years. Marshall Avenue now runs through a low-income neighborhood that has seen better days.

For shopping, the best bet is Grand Avenue a few blocks north, a lovely walk. For education, Marshall Avenue is home to the historic Central High School, renown for academics and athletics, and the private Concordia University Saint Paul, a school with Division 2 football team and national champion volleyball team. Restaurants are slim, at least west of Lexington avenue, but there is a terrific Ice Cream shop known as Izzy's on this street. Marshall avenue runs through several of Saint Paul's neighborhoods, and has a youth recreation center as well as the Oxford Community pool.

Marshall Avenue may not be the nicest street in America, but it has everything you would need.
heavenr
heavenr Marshall ave is a fabulous place to live. Multi-ethic, multi generational group of people who take pride in their community and really look after one another! Maybe give it another look, sketchy is definitely not how I would describe it.
