"Pretty in places, but do your homework"

I have friends who live in this area, and all I can say is, do your homework before you move here.

My friends have an older wood home that's two stories plus a basement. The house sits on a large lot—close to an acre, I believe—with an old wood garage at the back of the lot. They use the garage for storage, and they use a hefty chunk of the yard space for a vegetable garden each year.

The street they’re on is shady, plenty of trees and green yards.

The catch? When I last visited there, I stayed til after dark. They wouldn’t let me walk out to my car alone when it was time for me to leave. The wife informed me that she never goes outside alone after the sun goes down.

Other streets in this area might be better; this is a pretty large chunk of the map, after all. So again I say, investigate carefully before you move here.

Bus service here exists, but could be better. MTA bus route number 12 hits one corner of the area, and the #25 connector route goes through. The number 1, a weekdays-only route, also goes through here.

"A Small Area that offers a number of places of interest."

Wedgewood Ave runs from the Nolensville Road area to the 21st/Hillsboro Road area. The area will take you through the fair grounds to the Vanderbilt area. The area is going to connect you from Nolensville Road to the I65 interstate. The interstate is going to cross over Wedgewood which will then take you to the Vanderbilt University area.

When you are looking for some places to visit in the area, you will want to check out the La Hacienda restaurant on Nolensville road as well as Shoneys. The Shoneys restaurant will offer you a buffet as well as individual meals. The meals that you can get at Shoneys are affordable as well as good. The meals are going to offer you a selection of chicken, hamburgers and sea food such as shrimp. If you want to visit the area, you will most definately want to check out the Krispy Kreme donut factory. The factory will show you step by step how their donuts are made. You can enjoy a fresh donut as well as coffee and ice cream. The Krispy Kreme donut factory is now also offering sundaes made from donuts and ice cream.

Down Thompson Lane is the Vanderbilt 100 Oaks facility as well as many other restaurants and a shopping plaza. Beside the 100 Oaks mall is the cinema where you can enjoy movies day or night. There are a number of little stores in the mall such as Burlington Coat Factory and Ross. Other stores are Electronic Express and Petsmart.

There are other great stores in the area as well that you can visit when looking to have a day out. There are a number of small parks that you can take the kids to as well as taking the dogs to when looking for a area to visit during the day.

"Wedgewood--an up and coming area"

Wedgewood Ave. runs from Nolensville Road through the Fair Grounds to 21st Ave. South. Wedgewood Park area, the subject of this review is bordered by 8th Ave. South, and Nolensville Road, also called 4th Ave. South. (Many streets in Nashville have multiple names.)

A few years back, this was primarily a working class neighborhood, but trendy condo developments recently have been added to the landscape, and single family homes have been rehabbed and enhanced. Historic Waverly Belmont neighborhood is about one or two streets away.

A few blocks away on 8th Avenue is a string of interesting antique shops. The reservoir, also on 8th Ave., gives the area a little bit of a park feel. Not many restaurants in this area, but don't miss Zanie's Comedy Club, Douglas Corner music venue, or Monell's take out.
