Sable Altura

Sable Altura is an area just east of I-225. Although this is a very busy highway, there are large concrete barriers along the highway in this stretch to cut down on noise to the neighborhood. The homes in this area are very diverse in that some were built in the early 60s while others are much newer and built in the early 2000s. The average single family home price hovers right around the mid $100s, although there are some foreclosures that are for sale for almost a third of the price.

One really good thing about this neighborhood is it's close proximity to both I-225 and I-70. DIA is only minutes away as is Denver. There are numerous bus stops on the bordering streets, but no light rail as of yet. The bad thing about this neighborhoods location is the traffic. Both I-225 and I-70 can get really backed up in these areas. CDOT (Colorado Department of Transportation) is doing it's part and widening this section of I-225, and it has been much better this past year. I-70 here tends to bottleneck because of traffic traveling west to downtown and heading east to DIA. This area is also well known for speed traps as police officers are cracking down on those who may be running late for their flight.

As for restaurants, there are several fast food places as well as a couple of sit down restaurants. There is also a grocery store conveniently located at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Chambers Road. Just in the last couple of years a Starbucks and a bank has moved in.

Overall, I don't care for this area of town. It always seems kind of dreary to me and not really a good place to call home. While some of the streets are better than others, my overall view stays the same.
