Hadley Park

Hadley Park is among the first parks to honor the African American heritage. The Hadley Park neighborhood is close to Interstate 40 and 28th Avenue North. There is a public library near the Hadley Park entrance and situated in Hadley Park is a Recreation Center in which children are offered numerous activities throughout the year.

Hadley Park is bordered not only by 28th avenue north but also by 32nd avenue north and Alameda Street. There are a number of different entrances that can be used to get into Hadley Park There are a number of places that you can sit down and enjoy a picnic under a tree while visiting the Hadley Park. Spend a day here with your family either playing on the playground or hosting a picnic for friends and family.

Across the road is the TSU campus which is home to a large number of college students.

If you are looking for a place to attend a church on a Sunday morning, you will want to check out the Friendship Baptist Church which is located on 32nd Avenue north. When looking for a fast food restaurant on a busy day, there is a Wendy’s as well as Harpers. Either of these locations will offer you a good meal on a busy and hectic day. With easy access to interstate 40, it will not take long to get around to where you need to go in Nashville.

Hadley Park, which borders Tennessee State University, was described in 1912 as the first public park for black citizens in the world. Whether or not that is true, it probably most definitely was the first public park for black citizens in the South.

Today, the Hadley Park Community Center has a little something for everyone. There is a fitness center, after school and summer programs, competitive youth and adult sports, and cultural arts including drama, dance, drawing, and music.

In addition to the park, almost 2,000 people call the neighborhood home. It is a lower income area, with average income being $25,477. Median rent is $490, but the average home prices are around $160,003.
