"The best of both worlds: college town meets small town"

Newark is a unique town in that it truly is the best of both worlds. On one hand it is a small town, evolved from a small colonial market place. The roughly 25,000 residents have a great community spirit and community events such as parades and the yearly Newark Nite street festival draw a great turnout.

On the other hand it is a bustling college town with all the activity and excitement that the University of Delaware provides. Nightlife abounds in Newark, whether you desire the peaceful, fine dining of Café Gelato or the youthful energy of bars such as the Deer Park Tavern and Klondike Kate’s. The center of town is a classic Main Street, complete with brick sidewalks, that contains a majority of the city’s shopping, dining and nightlife.

"Small town life"

Main Street is really a cool place to visit. It has enough small town feel to make families and oldtimers feel welcome. It has family friendly restaurants and quaint stores. On the other hand it has enough businesses that cater to college students to have a modern, hip feel. It has bars, hip restaurants, as well as off the beaten trail, trendy stores for students. There's always a good mix of residents and students on Main Street.
