Is Roosevelt Island in New York City walkable? Can I walk to everything or do I need a car?

Roosevelt is so small you can walk the entire thing in an afternoon. The only thing you would need a car for is to get off the island. But, there are also a few public transportation options for that so you really don't need a car.
